Moving situations
Have you moved out lately? If you have, you also have moved in, as a consequence! Yes, it happens in all languages. In French, vous déménagez d’une maison, then, vous emménagez dans une autre.
Once you say that you moved out, it is understood that you also moved in some other place. The same goes in French. It is understood that vous avez emménagé(1) quelque part, when vous avez déménagé d’un autre lieu.
And what are you going to do in your new place of abode? You organize it to fit your taste. Vous l’aménagez(2) à votre goût.
Of course, you might need to do the housekeeping chores, faire le ménage. If you are more than one person in that place, it is advisable to get along well, faire bon ménage. This expression applies not only to married people, but also to describe the relationship between people in general, just as in English, actually.
And this is the part where some smart souls will ask me the meaning of the phrase faire ménage à trois….. You are sure you don’t know? Well. I guess you will have to look that one up yourself.
